Waterfall, Quilts, and Ice Cream

It's been another gorgeous day! We headed south today.

Our first stop was the Munson State Park south of Tillamook. We took a short hike to the Munson Creek Falls. The falls are 319 feet high.

Back in Tillamook, we stopped by Jane's Fabric Patch. A nice shop with a great staff. We talked with Jane quite a while and I enjoyed browsing. I did buy two pieces of fabric. I'll try to show my treasures tomorrow.

We enjoyed a picnic lunch and then went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory for waffle cones with their ice cream - so good!

After lunch, we stopped by the Latimer Quilt & Textile Center.

We stopped downtown at Tangled Yarns - a small shop with a friendly owner. I exercised great restraint and just looked.

As we were leaving Tillamook and driving north, I decided I really should get some photos of the 'barn quilts'. They are all over Tillamook County.

After getting back to Rockaway Beach, we stopped at a couple of small shops. As we were leaving, we met EagleSon. He is from the Seattle area and an 8th generation carver. He was interesting to talk with.

In a while we'll walk to the beach - it only takes 1 minute! We love watching the sunsets. It's very obvious that the weekend is here - more people and more traffic. We are thinking about spending most of tomorrow in this sleepy little village and just wandering around here. Guess we'll decide in the morning.

  1. You know, I'd forgotten all about the barn quilts all over Tillamook! Of course, I couldn't get a picture of them either, thanks to traveling with my family. Ditto on the Quilt Center. Yes, I definitely need to return to be able to travel on OUR schedule! ;-)
