Travel Day to the Coast

On June 10, we left Cascade Locks, Oregon in the morning and headed for Rockaway Beach, Oregon.

On the way, we stopped in Portland and went in search of Mill Ends Park. It is officially the smallest park in the world! We did find it but couldn't get a photo so here's one I grabbed off of the Internet. The park is in the middle of a median by a crosswalk on a four lane street. It was built for the leprechauns.

Our next stop was in Vancouver, Washington, at Fiddlesticks - a great fabric store! It had lots of bright fabrics along with some more traditional ones. I don't see Kaffe Fassett fabric very much and I love it! With GREAT restraint, I walked away with just a couple of patterns.

Then we met some friends for lunch. Ron and Paula used to live in our town. It is always a great day to have lunch with 'old' friends. They chose Sweet Tomatoes for lunch and it was so good!

After lunch, it should have been a 2 1/2 hour trip to the Coast with all of the traffic in Vancouver and a lot more in Portland. But there was a crash and the backups were incredible so it took much, much longer. We made in time to have dinner and watch the sunset.

  1. Ahhhh, there's nothing better than seeing the sun rise or set on the ocean. ;-)
