Very early this morning, Ray began taking photos. He was up about 4:00AM and caught some gorgeous photos of the early light and then finally some of the sunrise. I don't have any photos since I chose to stay in bed!
It was another beautiful day and we spent much of it in Acadia National Park which includes Cadillac Mountain.
From Greg A. Hartford on the Cadillac Mountain page:
There are two special places that seem to feed our souls like nothing else can. One is the open sea. ...The other is the view we experience from high on top of a mountain. ... On Cadillac Mountain, on the amazing coast of Maine on Mount Desert Island, we get to experience both amazing experiences in one place, at one time, in one unique and exceptional moment. ...

At Sand Beach:
I did remove my hiking boots and socks, rolled up my pant legs, and waded in the very cold water. I could have stayed on Sand Beach for hours - it was so beautiful!

We stopped at Jordan Pond House. So many people told us we had to have the popovers
with butter and strawberry yam. They were excellent!
We walked the short trail to Jordan Pond.
Our last stop was Cadillac Mountain - it is 1530 feet high and there are great views.
We decided that the views were so great that we didn't want to leave so we had a picnic lunch on top of the mountain. The popovers that we ate earlier made it easy to have a late lunch.
We would have loved to do some hiking but I'm really not ready yet. Besides there were more things to do today!

Amazing scenery! Looks like you had a beautiful day for your touring. We were in Bar Harbour a few years back and did a very quick tour but I'd love to go back! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow, what gorgeous views! I learned something new this morning ... I didn't know about cairns ... interesting! Thanks for taking us along with you!
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty photos! I have a recipe for making popovers... not as huge as those but they are yummy with soup. Can be made in a custard cup.
ReplyDeleteIt's all as beautiful as when we were there. Thunder hole, the pond, bridges, etc. Glad you enjoyed it, too. I'm enjoying it all over again, thru your pictures. Hope you have time for a whale watching trip out of Bar Harbor, too.
