Wednesday we woke to more rain and wind and storms...
So I took pictures of the six pieces of fabric that I bought at Primitive Gatherings on Monday. It's all for backings and half was on the sale table. I do love the grunge star fabrics on the left of each picture.
We drove the few miles to check out Christmas, MI. Sadly the cute little shops are pretty much gone and there is now a casino. We came back and looked around Munising and visited with some shop owners.
After a much needed nap, we went to Au Train to Whispering Pines Quilt Shop.
I wasn't looking for anything special but some flannel just spoke to me.
I've talked about making a fall quilt for us and now I have the fabric to do it! Did I capture some of the colors I saw later in the day?
There was also this piece of blue that Tina, the shop owner said is part of Moda's new Japanese collection. I decided my stash could use a little.
We had our hiking boots on and the rain had let up quite a bit so we went to the Au Train Waterfall.
We had a nice walk in the woods.
The waterfall was gorgeous and the water coming down on the flat shale rocks was soothing to hear. The fall colors were beautiful. Wow!
The pictures don't do it justice; of course it was cloudy and a bit drizzly.
The drive back was beautiful but with the mist and fog, I didn't even try to take pictures. We stopped at Sand Point Beach. Did you know it is hard to walk on a sandy beach while wearing hiking boots ? It was around 62 degrees and one of us didn't have a coat on.
The evening ended with another big storm - glad we were 'home' and didn't need to go out.
