We are in Vermont ...

It's been a long travel day but I loved seeing more of the stone houses and barns as we drove across Pennsylvania.  I enjoyed the rolling hills of New Jersey and the scenery in New York as we traveled north. We did get in a backup on the New York State Thruway lots of traffic that lasted close to an hour.  Then we arrived in Vermont - so far, it's just the way I pictured it - rural and picturesque!

Our last rental was Quaint House in Lancaster Village in Akron, Pennsylvania. We were supposed to be across the street in the Carriage House but Marlin called us shortly after making our reservation. He had the opportunity to rent the Carriage House longterm and offered us the house across the street for the same price. It was super nice - even better than the pictures on the website! Definitely a 5 star!

For the next week, we have an apartment in a rural area of Vermont. We are in the Champlain Valley which is surrounded by Lake Champlain and the Adirondack  Mountains on the west and the Green Mountains on the east. We've had a visitor already - a very young fox!

We'll be doing day trips all week. There won't be a lot of hiking yet but my ankle is getting better. Much of the swelling and pain are gone.

  1. I'm glad your ankle is doing better and can't wait to see what you do in Vermont.
