Scrappy Rail Fence

Scrappy Rail Fence began as a leader/ender project and I finished sewing the blocks together on a recent retreat. I decided to add a couple of borders. The narrow inner border is a pale yellow. I just happened to have a little more of the fabric that matched the dark rails - just enough for an outer border and the binding!

This donation quilt finished at 51" by 57". It's a donation quilt that I think would work for anyone - even a teenage boy. Of course, I love the bright colors.

I machine quilted this using rulers and off-white 50-weight Aurifil #2000 thread. The quilting is quite simple on the blocks.

The border was interesting to do. I learned a lot!

I used one of my favorite stash fabrics for the back - splotches of paint.

This quilt has Dream Cotton Batting and has been added to the finished pile.

An update on the Rainbow Quilt - it's together!

One of these days it will be quilted.

  1. I love a good rail fence....super pattern for these bright colors. It is great!

  2. Rail fence is so a breath of fresh air. Your backings are always so perfect for the quilt. The rainbow quilt is going to be stunning!

  3. That backing fabric is perfect for that quilt. It will make someone happy.
