Have you ever seen the northern lights - the aurora borealis? I have seen them twice - not nearly enough! Once they were green and the other time red. I am fascinated by the lights and would love to see them in the far north.
I bought some material called Northern Lights in Alaska three years ago. I wasn't sure what I would do with it but I bought it twice at two different stores and didn't realize it until I was home! So it really did (and still does) intrigue me.
At my little retreat I pieced a small 15" quilt. I was trying to decide how to quilt it when Ray said "with stars". Of course! So I machine quilted the piece with stippling stars.

It was an interesting way to make the star pieces. |

It would....when do you start????? Hehe! The Northern Lights hold such fascination for me, also. "Dancing Night Lights"...have seen them in all their glory here back in '74....Amazing!!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha - first I need to go back to Alaska and get enough fabric - want to come?! Isn't it amazing that we remember when we see the lights? They are so awesome! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteLOVE this one. I agree, it would look wonderful in a larger size.... so did you buy enough fabric to make it? You have one smart hubby - the stars were perfect for the quilting.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. It would definitely make an absolutely beautiful bed-sized quilt.
ReplyDeleteI think it would too - just need more fabric so I guess it's time to go back to Alaska!
DeleteIn Finland, I have seen Northern lights. Your quilt is very lovely, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I would love to see the Lights when they are all different colors. They are truly an awesome sight! ~Jeanne
