This is machine quilted - all of the fabrics are batiks which are hard to hand quilt.

A new wallhanging
I bought this wallhanging in a pattern/fabric kit about a year ago. I really liked the colors. The kit had a number of mistakes dealing with measurements but at least they included plenty of fabric so it all turned out ok!

A red miniature quilt
I came across the red/white half square triangles when I was deciding what to work on the other day. I had a bunch of squares that were just a tad too small for an unfinished project. So I decided to make a miniature quilt with them. This quilt is about 8" square.

The Saga of my Census Job
Well, I decided that my back felt better not working. So I called my boss this afternoon to tell him and he told me that I couldn't quit! Then he said the Recruiting Goals Report that came out this morning said he needed to end some recruiters so I have a Separation Agreement. Go figure! Anyway I am done!!! That leaves more time to play - I love being retired!
Funky 9 Patch Table Mat
One more finished project! This 27" X 36" table mat was started a year ago after seeing a presentation at Eggstravaganza.
It is about time to start some new projects - there are plenty of those in my sewing rooms along with a few more unfinished things!

Another interesting week has begun!
Recall that last week I was called at noon on Monday and was put on a non-working status for the U. S. Census Bureau because there was a problem with my FBI background check!
It wasn't that I had to work but I really didn't want to be "fired" from a job. So I patiently waited (quilted!) until the forthcoming letter arrived on Friday and told me what to do - I had to speak to my immediate supervisor! I decided to call around noon today instead of first thing on a Monday morning. Well, my boss, Rex, called me at first - I've been reinstated to work! No explanation - Rex has no idea of what is going on either. Now what to do???? I have to decide by Wednesday...

A Fall Twister
Another project finished! This is a 28" square quilt that I began at Quilt Camp last September. It will be put away until fall.
This past week has been fun with LOTS of time spent quilting!

A stop at a favorite fabric shop
Yesterday I visited Mom and then stopped by Lucky 2B Quilting on my way home. I was there to get an idea of what I wanted to make at the March camp and to visit with Polly, the owner. Well there was some new material and it just shouts SPRING. So of course, I came home with some.
Not really sure that I needed another project...

A finished Red, White, Blue, Tan Quilt!
A year ago I posted some photos of works in progress. Well the Red, While, Blue, Tan Quilt is done!!! Shortly after I retired in the spring of 2005, I saw a quilt in an Eleanor Burns book that Ray really liked. The pattern wasn't in the book - the quilt was just in a photo but I decided to make it. It wasn't a priority so it took years and was always put aside when other quilts had to be done. Our quilt is about 102" X 120" and hand quilted.
I tried to drape it over a chair - I now think it is much bigger than the one in that book!
I put it on the bed trying to get a full picture but you can't see the borders.
This shows a corner. I wanted to miter the corners but who knows what my thought process was when I cut out the pieces years ago...
And this is where it will be for now - at the foot of our bed.

An interesting week!
It has been an interesting week!
I have been working for the U. S. Census Bureau but was called at noon on Monday and was told to stop working. Evidently there is a problem with my FBI background check! Actually it is my fingerprints - they are light. I have been fingerprinted five times for them and offered to do it digitally but was told no. So they want my fingerprints the old ink and paper way and then they are trying to digitize them - go figure! Anyway I began working in March and now in February, they have caught up with me! I think I have earned $15 more than I need for my 4 Social Security/ Medicare quarters this year so it is fine if I'm done - whenever I get the letter explaining the problem I will decide whether or not to appeal.
Ray has been down all week with a bad cold and I have been resting my back so it has been a quiet and restful time to watch the Olympics. I have also been quilting - photos coming soon.
