The fourth part of our Virginia Trip 2023

We left the Shenandoah Mountains in drizzly rain. It stayed with us off and on all of the way to Fayetteville, WV. Driving the backroads, which just means no interstates, was relaxing even in the rain. There wasn't much traffic and at times, we were even on 4-lane roads.

We drove through many towns and had a late lunch in Lewisburg, WV. Ray once saw a picture of the Greenbriar Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV, and thought we should stop to see it but one cannot get in without some kind of reservation. Guess we should have planned ahead!

We did stop in Hico, WV, at Sew Simple Hobby House. The owner wasn't there due to medical issues so her friends were managing the shop as they quilted together. They were a hoot! The one wore a t-shirt that said something like: I'm not bossy. I'm aggressively helpful. We enjoyed talking to all three of them. They had no idea where the bags were but did find and give me a pen with the store name on it! They didn't charge me tax and wouldn't take a credit card because they didn't know how. I'm thinking they didn't plan to have any customers! One of the friends suggested the owner was a hoarder - we both thought that she might be right. There were a LOT of fabric, many were blended fabrics but I did find some 100% cotton bolts. These 3 pieces will go into my stash.

Our first night in Fayetteville, WV ended with a pretty sunset.

Next post is about our time in Fayetteville, WV.

Take the back roads instead of the highways.
