Forty years ago right about now, we arrived at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. We were young, childless, and so excited that Ray was going to be a dorm director while we were attending graduate school. That was the beginning of our love affair with Colorado.

When we left grad school, we found jobs near Aspen and thought we would live there forever. But sometimes life intervenes. After Brad was born, we headed back to Illinois. We said we would visit Colorado as often as possible.

Over the years we made it back a few times. When we retired in 2005, we worked two summer/falls in Rocky Mountain National Park.

For some reason, Colorado feels like home to us. I think it has something to do with the Rocky Mountains.

It felt so good to see the mountains today! We are in Greeley tonight - we wanted to get back on the UNC campus.

Tomorrow we will be in those gorgeous mountains.

  1. So glad you made it to Colorado! I suspect you feel the same way there that I do when we cross over the bridge to Hilton Head ... I can literally feel myself relaxing. ;-)

Have a wonderful day in your mountains.

  2. That's the way I feel, too, even though I've never lived there. Colorado is just different and in such a good way. It is a relief when you can finally see the mountains.
