2013 NewFO Challenge - April Update

Here are the quilting projects that I started in April. For this challenge, projects don't have to be finished ... just started! You can visit Barbara over at Cat Patches and see what everyone else has been working on this month.

1. I began April by making this Tiny Pineapple. It is a 3" square

Paper pieced Tiny Pineapple
and lives in this frame.
Frame is 7 3/4" square.

2. One of my goals this year is to make a Modern Quilt.  I have started making 64 patch 12" blocks in various colorways. I'm calling the quilt Crazy Eights. I have nine blocks done, all in different colors.
Blue, orange, teal, melon, yellow, pink, green, red, and purple blocks
3. I just read about the To Boston With Love flags and  I made four.

Updates on earlier 2013 projects:

1.The April block of the 5th Anniversary BOM Quilt at Lucky2BQuilting is done. One of these days, I'l begin putting the blocks together. There are three per row and I now have four done.
2. Spring Bouquet is appliquéd! I am stippling this quilt in a small scale and outlining each appliquéd piece. I am quilting this in pieces and it is taking a while! There are 9 interior blocks and 4 border pieces. Here are the top 6 interior blocks, all done!
Applique is outlined and background is small scale stippling.
3. My Buggy Barn table runner is done.

I guess that's it!

To Boston With Love

The Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild has started a project called To Boston With Love. They want people to sew a small flag using the themes of love, peace, and/or harmony - the flags will all be strung together to be displayed in Boston in June. Visit one of the above links for all the details. As of right now, the flags all need to be received by May 21.

I decided to make a flag or two. So I began late Sunday afternoon. The hardest part was deciding how to make each flag. After that, it goes pretty fast.

Here are my flags - all four of them.
I cleaned all of the threads off of my design wall before I took this and then realized the white background wasn't good!
One more photo on my cutting mat.
Yes, that's my foot
And a close up of the little 6" X 8" flags.

If you are in Boston in June, I hope you get to see all of the flags and feel the love!
